Tar - e restore big file
I tarred a directory to a different location. I then deleted the original directory. Now I need to restore the directory, and I am unable to do so The contents do not get restored. Cloning a system via mksysb backup from one system and restore to new system. Can anyone help me on the procedure to follow? I am not really sure on how it can be done.

I can see the partitions as volume sizes with divvy command, but the labels are missing boot, root, etc , so I can not address them when using fsck command.

Did you use an absolute or relative path? Should be relative, other than that it looks right. How long did you let it run, and how good is your system?
