I had the same problem with a new 6Tb Seagate drive even though I already had a 4Tb drive from the same company working well. Was this reply helpful?

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. When it freezes, I unplug it and reboot. Once system operational and plugged in, it appears in Device Manager. Does not show up under Computer. Sometimes visable in Devices as disk. Couple of times it was under computer as a CD drive. Was working fine under Windows 8. This thread is locked.
